Japanese footwear brand Grounds returned to Paris Fashion Week for its Spring/Summer 2026 collection, “INTERRUPTER,” presented on October 2, 2025. Held in a raw, concrete parking garage in the 8th arrondissement, the show featured models in exaggerated silhouettes with voluminous outsoles, distorted proportions, and comic-like accessories, creating a darkly playful atmosphere that blurred the lines between fashion and performance art.
The collection delved into themes of beauty, decay, and mutation, drawing inspiration from Japanese horror lore. Footwear was reimagined as sculptural objects, challenging traditional notions of shoes. The show featured a blend of avant-garde design and intellectual humor, reflecting Sakabe's vision of fashion as a medium for storytelling and cultural commentary.
